Epson 360°

To realize the sustainable and enriching society that Epson envisions, the sustainable use of resources is essential. Epson promotes resource-circulating activities, such as reduction and reuse, across countries and regions worldwide.

Objectives

The transition to a circular economy is a shared challenge for society as a whole.
Epson takes a design for environment approach to the design of its products in an effort to reduce their size, weight, and environmental impact. We take the same approach to our production processes. We are also providing long-term maintenance services so that our products can be used for as long as possible. Moreover, resources are being circulated through programs to collect, refurbish, and reuse products and parts.
The name "Epson 360°" symbolizes these initiatives, which are being carried out globally.

The success of our closed resource loop initiatives depends on the understanding and cooperation of our customers. We hope that our customers will join us in the recycling loop by cooperating with product collection and choosing recycled products, thereby expanding the closed resource loop in society.

About the Epson 360° Logo

The Epson 360° logo is composed of leaves, which are a symbol of nature, arrows and circles that evoke the idea of a closed loop, and the letter e. It expresses Epson's desire to work with customers to close the resource loop, reduce environmental impact, and minimize ecosystem impact.
The Epson 360° logo will be displayed on products eligible for collection and on reused products, indicating that they are part of the Epson 360° initiative. The logo will be introduced gradually on products manufactured from 2026 onward, depending on production conditions.

The Epson 360° Program

Here, we provide examples of things we are doing under the Epson 360° program to help to reduce the use of new resources without sacrificing product quality.

Reconditioning Program (Reduce)
This program prolongs the useful life of products by extending the service warranty period and reconditioning the products at the customer’s site instead of disposing of them after the warranty period expires.

Product Reuse Program
Used products are collected from customers, repaired, and maintained as needed to restore their functions to a condition that is as good as new before the products are resold.
* Used products includes merchandise that was returned due to defects on arrival.

Consumables Reuse Program
Used consumables are collected and disassembled so that certain parts can be reused in the manufacture of new consumables.

Initiative Status

Epson is using its global network to spread the Epson 360° concept around the world. The first step is to present examples from Japan that illustrate the concepts.

Topic 1: Reuse of Ink Containers

Epson reuses some parts from certain ink cartridges and ink packs. These used consumables are collected and disassembled. The reusable parts are taken and reused in new products for resale.

1 Ink containers eligible for this pick-up and collection service in Japan
2 Non-eligible parts, damaged or dirty parts, and other items that are non-reusable are sent for recycling.

Topic 2: Reconditioning Program and the Provision of Refurbished Products

In addition to our large-format printer reconditioning program, we are working to raise awareness about the availability of refurbished consumer and business printers, projectors, watches, and PCs1. This reconditioning program allows customers to use products for longer. It also gives them more options at the time of purchase, because products that would otherwise be discarded are refurbished, restoring them to near-new condition2, and offered at attractive prices. Purchasing and using these products and services reduces new resource use, reduces waste, and contributes to resource circulation.

1 These are used products that are collected and sold after any necessary repairs, part replacements, and cleaning.
2 Refurbished products may have minor scratches or stains on the exterior.
