Printer (Inkjet) Technologies

Epson is refining its Micro Piezo inkjet technology and conducting further research and development so that the technology can be used not only in home inkjet printers but also in printer applications for users in the office, commercial, industrial, and other higher-productivity printing segments. Epson's goal is to provide a sustainable printing ecosystem with high environmental performance.

Core Technology

At the heart of Epson's inkjet technology lies our proprietary Micro Piezo technology. This technology enables the stable and precise ejection of spherical ink droplets as small as 1.5 picoliters-one trillionth of a liter-at rates of up to 50,000 droplets per second. Such precision is made possible through advanced meniscus control and our Variable Sized Droplet Technology (VSDT), which allows a single nozzle to eject droplets of varying sizes. Epson's inkjet technology generates significantly less waste than conventional analog and laser printing methods, contributing to reduced environmental impact.

PrecisionCore Technology

PrecisionCore technology represents a cutting-edge advancement in inkjet printing, elevating performance to an entirely new level. It is the result of combining Epson's decades of expertise in inkjet technology with advanced MEMS (micro-electro mechanical systems) fabrication techniques for producing high-precision components, and Thin-Film Piezo technology, which enables the uniform and consistent formation of piezoelectric layers just one micrometer thick on silicon wafers.
