Epson Signs Four MOUs with the Government of Senegal and African Private Enterprises at TICAD9

- TOKYO, Japan, September 18, 2025 -

Seiko Epson Corporation (TSE: 6724, "Epson") signed four Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with the Government of Senegal and African private enterprises during the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9), held from August 20 to 22 at Pacifico Yokohama in Kanagawa, Japan. These MOUs pertain to pilot projects utilizing projectors in the fields of education and agriculture.

Epson, leveraging its expertise in the use of projectors in education, has been conducting pilot projects in developing countries since 2022. The aim of these pilot projects is to reduce educational inequality caused by regional and social differences. Through the swift implementation of the newly signed MOUs and the creation of sustainable business models, Epson will continue to help solve local societal issues and revitalize regional economies as it works toward achieving sustainability and enriching communities.

Details of the MOUs are provided below.

  1. MOU for PoC of Training of smallholder farmers by projector in Africa(Sub-Saharan Africa)
    Improving the productivity of smallholder farmers is an urgent issue for economic growth in the region. This project seeks to develop and validate a digital farming guidance model using projectors to enhance productivity and ultimately improve livelihoods.

  2. MOU for the Project for the Verification Survey for Solution-Oriented Business Related to the Education and Agriculture Sectors in Senegal
    Senegal plans to implement educational reforms using digital technologies to address issues such as limited access to education and a high percentage of students who repeat a grade due to the quality of learning. A model will be developed for improving learning environments using ICT materials and projectors, and its effectiveness in expanding learning opportunities and improving education quality will be verified.

  3. MOU for the Project for the Verification Survey for Solution-Oriented Business Related to the Education and Agriculture Sectors in Senegal
    This project will address the lack of training opportunities and skills necessary for generating income in agriculture. It aims to verify the effectiveness of using projectors for training and information sharing.

  4. MOU for the Project for the Verification Survey for Solution-Oriented Business Related to the Education and Agriculture Sectors in Senegal
    This project supports Senegal's efforts to strengthen vocational training using digital technologies. It aims to verify the effectiveness of projectors in vocational training and support youth skill development and job creation through video-based learning materials.
