Epson to Exhibit During "Future Creation Robot Week" at Expo 2025

- TOKYO, Japan, June 9, 2025 -

Seiko Epson Corporation (TSE: 6724, "Epson") will exhibit at "Future Creation Robot Week," held at the EXPO Exhibition Center "WASSE" during Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan. The event is organized by the Future Creation Robot Week Executive Committee and will take place from Sunday, July 13 to Saturday, July 19, 2025.

"Future Creation Robot Week" is an experiential event that aligns with the Expo's theme, "Designing Future Society for Our Lives." It showcases how robots can carry forward Japan's world-renowned manufacturing and hospitality services into the future, exhibiting concepts for creating a sustainable and prosperous society. The event focuses on the people and technologies that will nurture the future of robotics.

At this event, Epson will be exhibiting "Pop-up Pirate*: Precision Duel - Human vs Robot x Force Sensor," a device that received a great deal of attention at International Robot Exhibition 2023 held at Tokyo Big Sight and was featured in many media stories.

This device features a vertically articulated (6-axis) robot equipped with a force sensor system. The robot inserts a sword into the small slots of the barrel in the party game "Pop-up Pirate" (distributed by TOMY Company, Ltd.), which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. When the pirate figure pops out, the robot uses a net attached to its arm to catch it before it falls onto the table.

The force sensor system utilizes Epson's proprietary quartz crystal piezoelectric sensing technology to achieve high sensitivity and rigidity. This technology enables robots to perform difficult, delicate tasks that previously relied on human tactile senses, tasks such as inserting parts into tight spaces.

During the exhibition, visitors to Epson's booth will be able to challenge the device to a game of Pop-Up Pirate and see for themselves the extraordinarily quick and precise movements of Epson's robot system in a game-like setting.

We look forward to welcoming you to the "Future Creation Robot Week" venue.
