Business and Human Rights

Epson considers business and human rights to be a priority issue. We are committed to fulfilling our corporate responsibility to respect human rights in our business activities.
We believe that respect for human rights is the foundation of diversity. From a global perspective, we promote initiatives that consider a wide range of stakeholders, including employees, temporary staff, suppliers, local communities, and users of our products and services. This page introduces our basic approach and selected initiatives.

Core Initiatives

Commitment to Human Rights

The Epson Group Human Rights Policy outlines our fundamental approach to respecting human rights and serves as our highest-level guideline. This policy commits every employee to avoid engaging in, encouraging, or contributing to human rights violations.

Human Rights Due Diligence

We identify and assess potential negative human rights impacts both within the Epson Group and among our business partners based on the Epson Group Human Rights Policy. When problems and issues come to light, we initiate preventive and corrective action. We regularly monitor the situation and strive to deal with human rights issues transparently through both internal and external reporting.

Grievance Mechanisms

To ensure that individuals who have experienced or are at risk of human rights violations can safely raise concerns, Epson has established and operates grievance channels. We respond sincerely to all reports received and strive to provide appropriate remedies through careful and respectful engagement.

Education and Awareness

To ensure the effectiveness of our human rights initiatives, Epson provides role-specific training and education to executives, managers, procurement staff, general employees, and supply chain partners.

Selected Initiatives

Addressing Customer Harassment

In response to serious cases of customer harassment, Epson established the Domestic Group Guidelines on Customer Harassment in March 2025 and has communicated them both internally and externally. When employees are found to have been harassed, we respond firmly to the harasser. We also provide counseling and mental health care to ensure that employees do not face these situations alone.

Same-Gender Partnership Benefits

Epson is creating a fair environment for sexual minorities to ensure that their human rights are respected. Starting in January 2025, certain marriage-related benefits have been extended to same-sex partners.
Employees who submit a partnership certificate issued by a prefecture or municipality are eligible for marriage leave, congratulatory payments, and childcare or elder care leave, equivalent to those granted under legal marriage. We also conduct training to share the background of these policies and considerations around outing, promoting understanding and proper implementation.
